Bio

I have always had a love of art.  During my 33 year career as a special education teacher I incorporated art in my instruction with the students. I have been oil painting for approximately fifteen years now but I became serious about it when I retired.  In the beginning of my artistic journey realism was the direction which prevailed in my style.  But beginning the summer of 2020 I began painting plein air. It was also my first contact with painting landscapes.  When I paint outside and see the land it evokes in me a feeling or mood.  By getting out of the studio and experiencing painting and drawing landscapes it feeds my soul. It allows me to quickly capture colors and encounter different light sources. Experience is teaching me that it is better to think of possible problems before taking the brush in my hands and trusting my intuition.  This has giving me courage to leave the safe process of copying a photo. This will hopefully give me a new creative process to carry me forward.
